AUDITION NOTICE: Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense
WT is committed to being a diverse and open organisation. Auditions are open to anyone, regardless of background or experience, and we particularly welcome those who have been traditionally under-represented in theatre.
Our January play will be Jeeves and Wooster In Perfect Nonsense, written by David and Robert Goodale, and based on the characters of P. G. Wodehouse.
I’m sure Jeeves and Wooster need no introduction, but this is a relatively recent update/adaptation of these classic characters. Originally written and performed in 2013, this a clever, fast paced and imaginative comedy that’s very much in the style of two of the recent plays that we’ve done at WT – namely The Hound of The Baskervilles and The Thirty Nine Steps.
The ‘play within a play’ concept is that Bertie Wooster is attempting to put on his own one man show in front of our audience, and he very quickly realises he needs to enlist the help of his faithful manservant, Jeeves, and Seppings, his Aunt’s Butler.
Parts
Bertie Wooster | (25 to 45) The classic ‘nice but dim’ upper class gent – well meaning, enthusiastic and amiable. |
Jeeves | (25 to 55) Bertie’s ever present valet, wise and worldly, with a very dry sense of humour.(Multiple character part – the actor playing Jeeves will also play 4 other characters, male and female!) |
Seppings | (30 to 60) The butler of Bertie’s Aunt – dignified and stoic. As with Jeeves the actor playing this part will play a variety of other characters, again male and female! |
