AUDITION NOTICE: Love From a Stranger
WT is committed to being a diverse and open organisation. Auditions are open to anyone, regardless of background or experience, and we particularly welcome those who have been traditionally under-represented in theatre.
Synopsis
Cecily has spent her twenties in a dull office job. After winning the lottery with her flatmate, she finally has the chance for some adventure. Enter Bruce Lovell, a handsome and charming stranger who sweeps her off her feet. In a whirlwind romance, she recklessly abandons her job, friends, and fiancé to settle in the remote and blissful surroundings of a country cottage. But all is not as it seems… there’s something about her new husband that doesn’t seem right, and in an astonishingly tense final scene, nothing can stop the secrets from spilling.
Originally written in the 1930s, Agatha Christie’s Love from a Stranger was adapted for stage by Frank Vosper. Our production is going to take this remarkably contemporary thriller and bring it up to date to 2025.

Dr Gribble | A well-spoken country doctor. Age Range: 50 – 75 |
Hodgson | The gardener / groundskeeper at the cottage. A bit of a yokel, but with his head screwed on. Age: Preferably 30+ |

We’re looking to start rehearsals towards the end of February, and will work around schedules before we decide on nights of the week. Chances are, we’ll do two weeknights, and some Sunday afternoons / evenings as we get closer. If you would like to audition but can’t make any of the dates above, please do get in contact and let us know.
If you’re borrowing a script to read, please be aware that we will be updating a lot of the references throughout, so it will feel much more modern. However, none of the story / characters / plot / etc. will be changing!
